It has been observed that, we have to consider many factors in choosing between owning and renting a house which have both positive and negative effects. There are a myriad of benefits as well as drawbacks of owning a house than renting one. Both the pros and cons are elaborated in the ensuing paragraphs.
Examining the bright side of having one's own home, the foremost one is equity accumulation and wealth building. It means that using one's mortgages in a proper way which can grow asset's value. For example, individuals can rise his assets value by having some his shares in a house or resort or company. Moreover, house ownership gives us cost stability. Owners do not have to stress out over rent in every month. While, renters must deduct a large amount from his salaries just for living under a roof. Thus owner can use this large remaining in other expenses.
On the contrary, there are some hidden darker sides of having own's home. To begin with, high transaction costs is a hindrance which include taxes, real estate cost, legal ownership taxes and many more. It also cost a lots of hassle just to pay per year. But then by renting we can avoid these expenses. Besides, capital expenditures is also a disadvantage. Capital per head increases gradually within years. For instance, for owning a house can lead to 1% capital for now but within two or three years it can grow to 2% to 3%. As a result, it can be a burden for many people and lead to sell the house.
To conclude, there are both merits as well as demerits of buying an apartment. However, I believe that house ownership is more advantageuos than renting because of cost stabilty and wealth building path though its transaction costs and gradual capital expenditures.
