The rapid advancement of technology has brought us to a new era where robots are increasingly capable of performing everyday household tasks. While some welcome this as a sign of progress, others fear its consequences. In my opinion, this is largely a positive development, provided it is embraced thoughtfully.
On the positive side, domestic robots offer significant practical benefits. For busy professionals and families, automated systems that handle cleaning, cooking, and home maintenance can free up considerable time, allowing individuals to focus on more meaningful activities such as spending time with loved ones or pursuing hobbies. Furthermore, for elderly individuals or those with physical disabilities, robotic assistance can be life-changing, enabling them to live more independently without relying entirely on human caregivers.
However, critics raise valid concerns about the social implications of this shift. One frequently cited drawback is the potential for reduced human interaction. If robots serve as companions, particularly for the elderly or children, genuine emotional bonds may weaken over time. Human relationships are built on empathy and shared experience — qualities that no machine can truly replicate. Overreliance on robotic companionship could therefore lead to increased feelings of loneliness and emotional detachment.
Additionally, the widespread adoption of domestic robots may deepen existing social inequalities. Advanced robotic technology is likely to be expensive, meaning only wealthier households will benefit, while lower-income families are left behind.

Detailed Criteria Feedback

AI-powered analysis for each scoring criterion

Task Response5.5
Evaluation
The essay responds to the prompt and presents a position, but it does not fully extend ideas, particularly on the negative side, and ends abruptly without a conclusion. The underlength word count means key points are not elaborated.
Examples
Positive points about time-saving and assistance for the elderly are mentioned, but concerns about human interaction and social inequalities are only briefly stated without detailed explanation or examples.
How to Improve
Ensure the essay meets the minimum word count by providing more detailed examples and explanations for each point. Always include a clear conclusion that summarizes the argument and restates the position.
Coherence & Cohesion5.5
Evaluation
The essay has a clear introduction and body paragraphs with appropriate cohesive devices. However, the lack of a conclusion disrupts the overall progression and leaves the response incomplete.
Examples
Transition words like 'On the positive side,' 'However,' and 'Additionally' are used effectively to link paragraphs and ideas.
How to Improve
Add a concluding paragraph to summarize main points and provide closure. Ensure each paragraph focuses on a single main idea and that ideas flow logically from one to the next.
Lexical Resource6
Evaluation
Vocabulary is generally appropriate and shows a good range, with some less common terms used accurately. However, there is room for more variety and precision.
Examples
Terms such as 'domestic robots,' 'life-changing,' 'emotional detachment,' and 'social inequalities' demonstrate lexical competence.
How to Improve
Incorporate more synonyms and topic-specific vocabulary. Avoid repetition by using varied expressions, and ensure all word choices are precise and contextually appropriate.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy6
Evaluation
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures with good grammatical accuracy. Errors are minimal and do not hinder understanding.
Examples
Complex sentences like 'While some welcome this as a sign of progress, others fear its consequences' and 'For busy professionals and families, automated systems that handle cleaning, cooking, and home maintenance can free up considerable time' demonstrate effective grammar use.
How to Improve
To achieve a higher band, use a wider variety of complex structures, such as conditional clauses, relative clauses, and passive constructions. Pay attention to punctuation and sentence variety.
