In recent years, a growing number of people have chosen to live alone rather than with family or roommates. This trend reflects changing social value and increase in independence. It is a trend that carries advantages and drawbacks. Overall, it is believed to have more positive impact, although it requires careful consideration of its social impactations.
One of the main advantages of living together is the freedom it offers. Individuals are able to make decisions without the need of compromising for others. This independence helps individuals develop basic life coping skills like time organization, finanacial management and self discipline. Living alone can be effective for young adults as it prepares them for future responsibilities. A lot of people prefer privacy and living alone promotes private living. In addition, having your private space reduces stress and improves mental well-being, especially for people who live in controlled environments.
On the other hand, living alone can lead to feelings of lonliness and social isolation. Humans are naturally social beings, and a lack of daily interaction may lead to negative mental health. Furthermore, the cost of living alone is extremely higher compared to previous years. Cost of rent and utilities are quite expensive especially for people living independently. Living alone can also increase the cost of rent and property prices as there would be more demand by people which could make housing inaffordable.
In conclusion, although living alone may have negative impacts like lonliness and social isolation, its advantages such as time organization, financial management and self discipline make it a positive trend overall.

Detailed Criteria Feedback

AI-powered analysis for each scoring criterion

Task Response6
Evaluation
The essay presents a relevant response to the task, discussing both positive and negative aspects and stating a clear opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited, with points listed rather than fully explained or supported.
Examples
Advantages such as freedom and life skills are mentioned but not elaborated with examples. The negative point about cost is stated but lacks depth in explanation.
How to Improve
Expand on each point with specific examples or evidence. For instance, explain how living alone develops financial management skills or provide data on housing costs to strengthen arguments.
Coherence & Cohesion6
Evaluation
The essay has a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, coherence is occasionally disrupted by unclear references and weak transitions within paragraphs.
Examples
In the first body paragraph, 'living together' is used incorrectly instead of 'living alone', causing confusion. Transitions between ideas (e.g., from freedom to life skills) are somewhat abrupt.
How to Improve
Ensure consistent topic sentences and use linking words (e.g., 'for example', 'moreover') to connect ideas smoothly. Proofread to avoid contradictory phrases.
Lexical Resource6
Evaluation
Vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic, but there are several spelling errors and imprecise word choices that reduce clarity.
Examples
Misspellings: 'finanacial' for 'financial', 'lonliness' for 'loneliness', 'inaffordable' for 'unaffordable'. Incorrect word: 'impactations' should be 'implications'.
How to Improve
Proofread carefully and use a dictionary or thesaurus to choose more accurate words. Practice spelling common academic terms related to social trends.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy5.5
Evaluation
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but grammatical errors are frequent, affecting accuracy and meaning.
Examples
Preposition errors: 'without the need of compromising for others' should be 'without the need to compromise with others'. Article missing: 'increase in independence' could be 'an increase in independence'. Tense inconsistency: 'are opting' vs. 'reflects'.
How to Improve
Review grammar rules for prepositions, articles, and verb forms. Practice writing complex sentences with subordinate clauses while maintaining accuracy.
