A significant number of people in some countries are choosing to live alone these days more than before. They believe that living alone gives them a sense of responsibility and being accountable for certain life choices. This essay agrees that people living alone have led to positive developments. It will discuss how living alone has contributed to personal growth and given people a sense of responsibility.
One major advantage of living alone is the freedom and flexibility that comes with your own rules, like deciding when to sleep, eat, study, play, and clean without compromising others. It gives room for personal growth and development. This forces one to be more self-reliant, improve problem-solving skills in various aspects of life, and boost confidence.
On the other hand, there's a school of thought that argues that living alone has had some negative development amongst youths and adults, which often leads to emotional and social challenges. An intense feeling of loneliness is common; without housemates, one might experience isolation and lack companionship to share moments with.
It is argued that more people are opting to live alone these days than before, citing that it offers complete autonomy, allowing them to create peaceful and personalized environments without compromise. While living alone may be associated with a sense of responsibility, freedom, and accountability, some people have also argued about the negative effects of living alone, which are often associated with emotional and social challenges. Overall, the positive effects according to this essay outweigh the negative development

Detailed Criteria Feedback

AI-powered analysis for each scoring criterion

Task Response6
Evaluation
The essay responds to the task by discussing both positive and negative aspects, with a clear stance that it is positive. However, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For instance, the points about freedom and personal growth are mentioned but not elaborated with examples or detailed explanation.
Examples
The essay states: 'One major advantage of living alone is the freedom and flexibility that comes with your own rules...' but does not provide concrete examples or further analysis to support this claim.
How to Improve
Extend ideas by providing specific examples, such as how living alone helps in career development or mental well-being. Explain why the positives outweigh the negatives with more nuanced reasoning, rather than just stating it.
Coherence & Cohesion6
Evaluation
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the flow is somewhat disjointed, with repetition and abrupt transitions. Paragraphing is present but could be more logically organized.
Examples
The third paragraph introduces negative aspects with 'On the other hand,' but the fourth paragraph repeats points from the introduction without clear progression. The conclusion reiterates earlier statements without synthesizing new insights.
How to Improve
Use clearer topic sentences for each paragraph and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single main idea. Improve linking between paragraphs with transition words like 'Furthermore,' 'In contrast,' or 'Consequently.' Avoid repetition by consolidating similar points.
Lexical Resource6
Evaluation
Vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and sophistication. Some words are repeated, and there is limited use of less common lexical items. However, meaning is generally clear.
Examples
Repetition of words like 'responsibility' (used multiple times), 'development,' and 'negative.' Phrases such as 'sense of responsibility' and 'personal growth' are used without variation.
How to Improve
Incorporate synonyms and more precise vocabulary. For example, instead of 'responsibility,' use 'accountability' or 'self-sufficiency.' Use collocations like 'emotional well-being' instead of 'emotional challenges' to enhance lexical range.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy6
Evaluation
Grammar is mostly accurate with minor errors in word choice and sentence structure. Sentences are primarily simple or compound, with limited complex structures. Errors do not impede understanding but reduce sophistication.
Examples
Incorrect word choice: 'This forces one to be more self-reliant...' – 'forces' is too strong; 'encourages' or 'promotes' would be more appropriate. Awkward phrasing: 'It gives room for personal growth' – better as 'It provides opportunity for personal growth.'
How to Improve
Use a wider range of sentence structures, including complex sentences with subordinate clauses. Practice precise word choice and avoid overusing simple sentences. Proofread to correct minor grammatical errors.
