In the recent years, many people opt to stay alone rather than the previous years. This essay will discuss this trend and explain why I strongly believe it is a positive development.

In general, as much as companionship strenghtens relationships, living alone may be more beneficial to an individual since it helps them to be more organised and responsible.

Primarily, an individual who lives alone develops a sense of responsibility. The reason for this is that, they have nobody to depend on to do house chores and even general cleaning. They therefore have to plan their schedule in a way that everything is done at a specific time. This further helps them to be responsible unlike when staying with other people, arguments on who should do what arise.

In addition, individuals who stay alone are likely to be more organised in terms of financial control. Since they know their priorities, they can plan their spending because they have no family or friend around to influence them on how they use their money. To exemplify this, when a person lives with a friend or relative, they are likely to spend money on parties which may force an individual to spend beyond what they had budgeted for. Living alone is then helpul as it limits the rate of spending for an individual.

In conclusion, as much as living with others fosters socialisation, I reiterate my perspective of living alone since it helps an individual to be more organised financially as well as being responsible.

Detailed Criteria Feedback

AI-powered analysis for each scoring criterion

Task Response6
Evaluation
The essay presents a clear position and stays on topic, but the arguments are minimally developed. It mentions two main points (responsibility and financial control) but lacks depth and detailed support.
Examples
For example, the point about responsibility is linked to house chores but does not explore wider personal or societal benefits. The counterpoint on companionship is acknowledged but not effectively engaged with.
How to Improve
Extend each argument with specific examples, statistics, or real-life scenarios. Consider discussing potential negatives to provide a more balanced analysis before reinforcing your position.
Coherence & Cohesion6
Evaluation
The essay has a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, but they are somewhat mechanical, and paragraphing could be more refined.
Examples
Transitions like 'Primarily' and 'In addition' help organize ideas, but the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally abrupt (e.g., 'They therefore have to plan...').
How to Improve
Use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently') and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that connect smoothly.
Lexical Resource5.5
Evaluation
Vocabulary is adequate for the task but repetitive and with noticeable spelling errors. There is a lack of less common or precise lexical items.
Examples
Words like 'organized' and 'responsible' are repeated; misspellings include 'strenghtens' (should be 'strengthens') and 'helpul' (should be 'helpful').
How to Improve
Incorporate more varied vocabulary related to the topic (e.g., 'autonomy,' 'fiscal discipline,' 'self-reliance') and proofread carefully to correct spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy5.5
Evaluation
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex structures, but errors in grammar and phrasing are frequent, and sentence variety is limited.
Examples
Awkward phrasing in 'as much as companionship strenghtens relationships'; grammatical error in 'they have nobody to depend on to do house chores' (better: 'to do household chores'). Sentences are often simple, with few complex constructions.
How to Improve
Practice using a range of complex sentences (e.g., conditional, relative clauses) and review grammar rules for subject-verb agreement, article usage, and prepositions to improve accuracy.
