Many people believe that more and more individuals choose to live by themselves these days than before. Although the latter opinion can be beneficial in some cases, I believe that living alone is a positive development since it can play a big role in self-growth and being a more responsible individual.

People who live alone will have more time to focus on their own lifestyle, supporting their own self-growth in being more positive. They can spend their days improving their skills or learning something new that they have not had a chance to try before. For instance, individuals can improve their cooking or baking skills and slowly build a small bakery business. Besides cooking and baking, they could also try to learn something new, such as playing a musical instrument like a piano or a violin.

Living alone can be considered a suitable way for people to learn to be more responsible, as they have to do everything by themselves. By living by themselves, they are required to do daily tasks alone, such as cooking, cleaning, and paying bills. As a result, individuals will be more aware of their daily duties. This will increase people's self-discipline and problem-solving skills, which are essential for adulthood. Moreover, living alone will encourage people to learn how to make their own decisions and be responsible for their obligations.

In conclusion, I agree that living alone is a positive development for individuals. For the reason that it allows individuals to improve themselves and can increase self-discipline by being more responsible for their daily duties.

Detailed Criteria Feedback

AI-powered analysis for each scoring criterion

Task Response7
Evaluation
The essay fully responds to the task by presenting a clear opinion that living alone is positive, supported by reasons such as self-growth and responsibility. However, it does not explore any negative aspects or alternative perspectives, which limits the depth of analysis.
Examples
Examples include learning cooking or baking to start a business, and developing self-discipline through daily tasks like cleaning and paying bills.
How to Improve
To improve, consider briefly acknowledging potential drawbacks (e.g., loneliness or financial strain) before reinforcing your position. This would demonstrate a more balanced and nuanced response, enhancing task achievement.
Coherence & Cohesion7
Evaluation
The essay is logically organized with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'although', 'for instance', 'besides', 'as a result', and 'moreover' are used appropriately to link ideas.
Examples
Paragraph transitions are clear: the first body paragraph focuses on self-growth, and the second on responsibility. Linking words like 'in conclusion' signal the summary effectively.
How to Improve
To enhance coherence, vary cohesive devices (e.g., using 'furthermore' instead of 'besides') and ensure smoother connections between sentences within paragraphs. Avoid overusing phrases like 'living alone' by using pronouns or synonyms for reference.
Lexical Resource6.5
Evaluation
Vocabulary is generally adequate and topic-related, but there is noticeable repetition and a lack of lexical variety. Some words and phrases are used correctly but are relatively common.
Examples
Repeated use of 'living alone', 'self-growth', 'responsible', and 'self-discipline'. Phrases like 'play a big role' are functional but not sophisticated.
How to Improve
Expand lexical range by incorporating synonyms (e.g., 'solitary living', 'personal development', 'accountable', 'autonomy') and more precise vocabulary. Avoid repetition by using referencing words like 'this trend' or 'such a lifestyle'.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy7
Evaluation
A mix of simple and complex sentences is used with generally good control. There are minor grammatical errors and awkward phrasings that do not significantly impede communication.
Examples
Awkward construction: 'supporting their own self-growth in being more positive'. Non-standard phrase: 'For the reason that' in the conclusion. Otherwise, sentences like 'Although the latter opinion can be beneficial...' demonstrate complex structure.
How to Improve
Focus on accuracy in complex sentences, particularly with clauses and prepositions. Practice rewriting awkward phrases (e.g., 'which helps them become more positive') and use standard conjunctions like 'because' instead of 'for the reason that'.
