Task Response5.5
Evaluation
The essay presents both for and against arguments and provides an opinion, aligning with the task. However, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack detailed examples specifically linked to how the internet simplifies communication.
Examples
Positives include family communication and educational content during outbreaks, but these are not elaborated. Negatives like scams and doom scrolling are mentioned but not deeply connected to communication simplification.
How to Improve
Expand each point with specific examples and explanations. Clearly link each argument to the core idea of simplified communication. Strengthen the opinion with more support.
Coherence & Cohesion5.5
Evaluation
The essay has a basic structure with introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, paragraphing is somewhat awkward, and cohesive devices are simple, affecting the flow.
Examples
The introduction is repetitive. Transitions like 'While there are many advantages' are used, but within paragraphs, ideas are not smoothly connected. The conclusion abruptly introduces solutions.
How to Improve
Use clearer topic sentences for each paragraph. Improve linking words between sentences (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'however'). Ensure each paragraph focuses on one main idea for better flow.
Lexical Resource5.5
Evaluation
Vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with some spelling errors. While there are attempts at varied terms, the range is not sufficient for a higher band.
Examples
Misspellings: 'convinent' for 'convenient', 'shold' for 'should'. Repetition of 'easy', 'internet', 'advantages'. Basic phrases like 'a bunch we can mention'.
How to Improve
Use more precise vocabulary related to technology and communication (e.g., 'facilitate', 'global connectivity', 'cyber threats'). Proofread for spelling errors and avoid overusing simple words.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy5
Evaluation
There are frequent grammatical errors and awkward sentence structures. Simple sentences dominate, with mistakes in verb usage, articles, and word order.
Examples
Incorrect: 'Internet has also communication really easy' (should be 'has made communication easy'). 'people are easy get scammed' (should be 'can easily get scammed'). 'does not have travel' (should be 'do not have to travel').
How to Improve
Practice constructing grammatically correct sentences with proper verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. Use a mix of simple and complex sentences. Review article usage (e.g., 'the internet') and prepositions.
