People often think buying a house is more secure. The choice between owning and renting a house depends on the individual. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of owning a house compared to renting one.

To begin, one significant benefit of owning a house is its ownership. The ability to declare having one's own property makes people more secure about their future. For instance, in an Asian family or society, it is mostly considered that people who have their own home are the worthy ones. In addition, having one's own house means the individual doesn't need to worry about paying rent for the next month. This helps in saving at least a little sum of money, and people can invest in the stock market or other profitable outcomes.

However, owning a house presents some drawbacks. One noticeable disadvantage is that people have to invest a significant amount of their earnings. Renting the house doesn't require a large amount of money; you can pay your rent in installments, and people can also invest in a profitable business, which later could help in the betterment of their future. It's very efficient to rent a new house if it's not suitable, but one can't change their mind after buying a house. However, investing all your savings in one land or house and not having any savings could lead to frustration later.

In conclusion, owning a house ensures the guarantee of protection. Nevertheless, it poses challenges such as limited investment in businesses, and it can sometimes affect your mental health.

AI-powered analysis for each scoring criterion

Task Response5
Evaluation
The essay attempts to cover both advantages and disadvantages, but the development is limited and some points lack relevance or clarity. For example, the mention of Asian society is not fully explained, and the financial arguments are contradictory in places.
Examples
Advantages include security and not paying rent, but the point about 'worthy ones' in Asian society is a broad generalization. Disadvantages mention large investment and lack of flexibility, but the comparison with renting is not consistently articulated.
How to Improve
Focus on clear, specific points for each side. For advantages, discuss long-term financial benefits, stability, and freedom to modify property. For disadvantages, address high upfront costs, maintenance responsibilities, and reduced mobility. Ensure each point is explained with logical examples and avoid irrelevant details.
Coherence & Cohesion5
Evaluation
The essay has a basic structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, cohesion is mechanical, and the flow between ideas is sometimes disrupted by abrupt transitions or unclear connections.
Examples
In the second body paragraph, 'However' introduces drawbacks, but the following sentences shift between renting benefits and buying drawbacks without clear linking. The conclusion is vague and does not effectively summarize the main points.
How to Improve
Use a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'in contrast,' 'furthermore,' 'consequently') to show relationships between ideas. Ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that sentences logically follow one another. Practice writing conclusions that restate key arguments without introducing new information.
Lexical Resource4.5
Evaluation
Vocabulary is basic and repetitive, with some inaccurate word choices that reduce precision. The range is limited, and there is little use of topic-specific or advanced vocabulary.
Examples
Phrases like 'profitable outcomes' (should be 'investment opportunities'), 'worthy ones' (awkward for 'respected' or 'successful'), and overuse of 'house' and 'owning' without synonyms.
How to Improve
Expand lexical range by learning synonyms (e.g., 'property' for 'house,' 'acquire' for 'own,' 'lease' for 'rent'). Incorporate topic-related terms like 'equity,' 'mortgage,' 'tenancy,' and 'landlord.' Practice using vocabulary in context to improve accuracy and avoid repetition.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy4.5
Evaluation
Grammar is limited to simple structures, with several errors that affect clarity and meaning. There are issues with sentence construction, word order, and article usage.
Examples
Awkward phrasing: 'The ability to declare having one's own property' (better: 'The ability to claim ownership of property'). Incorrect use: 'people who have their own home are the worthy ones' (should be 'considered more successful' or similar). Run-on sentences and punctuation errors are present.
How to Improve
Practice constructing complex sentences using clauses and connectors (e.g., relative clauses, conditionals). Focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage ('a' vs. 'the'), and punctuation. Proofread essays to identify and correct recurrent errors, and consider using grammar check tools for feedback.
