Many people believe that taking a break will allow students to gain valuable life experience, which is good for their personal growth. On the contrary, some other people argue that it may impact the student's academic process. This essay will discuss both the advantages and disadvantages of taking a break after finishing high school.
One major advantage of taking a year break after high school is the opportunity to gain personal growth and maturity. During this period, students can have a part time job, volunteering in community, or travelling, which help them to be more independent and confident. Having practical skill and work experience will be another benefit for the students that make them ready and prepare for the life challenge. As a result, they know their interest and strength before they enter university. This will prevent them from making a wrong academic decision.
On the other hand, taking a year gap will bring some disadvantages especially in academic area. Some students might lose their motivation to go on college due to their responsibilities to their work. The lost of their study habit after a year of pause will be another issue. Taking a gap year must be followed by a careful planning.
