When choosing whether to own or rent a home, there are various aspects to consider since it can impact a person's life either in a positive or negative way. This essay will discuss the benefits and the drawbacks of owning a house in comparison to renting it.
On the one hand, owning a house is seen as a significant achievement for an individual. This is because a home is considered an asset which enables one to settle without incurring costs on rent hence saving on finances. In addition, when one lives in their own house, there is freedom that comes with it, for instance, they can change the colour of the painting, the design as well as the furniture since they are not answerable to anybody unlike in a rented house where restrictions on such issues are imposed. Moreover, the owner of the house can choose the design of the flowerbeds to what suits them since they are free to make their own choices. It therefore means that, when an individual owns a home, there is an air of freedom to adjust every part of it to suit their taste.
On the other hand, a setback in house ownership is seen when it limits one with flexible work schedule since it is always built in a fixed location. This then means that, if a person is transferred to another city, the house cannot be moved to a new location. This is where rented houses are beneficial because they can be found in many locations across the country.
In conclusion, having your own house is significant as money that would have been spent on rent is saved. Also, structural adjustments can be made anytime to fit an individual's preferences. However, since the structure is in a fixed space, it disadvantages a person whose job involves constant relocation.
