Museums play a significant role in modern society, yet opinions differ about whether their main purpose should be education or entertainment. Some people believe museums should focus on teaching visitors about history, science, and culture, while others argue that they should be enjoyable places designed to entertain. In my view, although entertainment is important, education should remain the primary purpose of museums, supported by engaging methods. Those who support the educational role of museums argue that these institutions are guardians of knowledge and heritage. Museums preserve valuable artifacts, artworks, and historical records that help people understand the past and learn from it. For students and researchers, museums provide reliable information and real objects that deepen learning beyond books or digital sources. If museums prioritize entertainment too much, they may oversimplify facts or reduce the seriousness of important topics, which could weaken their educational value.
On the other hand, some people believe museums should be entertaining to attract more visitors. Many individuals, especially younger generations, are less interested in traditional displays with long descriptions. Interactive exhibits, virtual reality, and creative storytelling can make museums more appealing and accessible. When visitors enjoy their experience, they are more likely to stay longer, return in the future, and develop

Task Response4.5
Evaluation
The response partially addresses the task by discussing both views and stating an opinion. However, due to the short length and incompleteness, ideas are not fully extended or supported, leading to underdevelopment.
Examples
The essay introduces both perspectives and gives a personal view, but the argument for entertainment is cut off before completion, e.g., '...and develop' without finishing the thought.
How to Improve
Ensure the essay meets the minimum word count by fully developing each paragraph. Provide more detailed examples and explanations for both sides and your opinion, such as specific museum types or case studies.
Coherence & Cohesion5
Evaluation
The essay has a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a beginning of a conclusion. However, the abrupt ending disrupts the overall cohesion and leaves the essay without a proper closing.
Examples
Use of cohesive devices like 'On the other hand' and 'In my view' helps link ideas, but the essay ends without a conclusion, breaking the flow.
How to Improve
Plan the essay to include a complete conclusion that summarises the main points and restates your opinion. Ensure all paragraphs are fully developed and the essay flows smoothly to the end.
Lexical Resource6
Evaluation
Vocabulary is generally appropriate and sufficiently varied for the topic, with some effective word choices. No significant errors are present, but range is limited by the short length.
Examples
Phrases like 'guardians of knowledge', 'interactive exhibits', and 'virtual reality' demonstrate good lexical range and topic relevance.
How to Improve
Incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary and avoid repetition. Use synonyms and more precise terms to enhance lexical resource, e.g., 'edutainment' or 'curatorial' in context.
Grammatical Range & Accuracy5.5
Evaluation
Grammar is mostly accurate with a mix of simple and complex structures, but the incomplete sentence affects accuracy. Overall control is adequate.
Examples
Complex sentences such as 'Those who support the educational role of museums argue that...' are used correctly. However, the last sentence is fragmented, e.g., '...and develop'.
How to Improve
Proofread to ensure all sentences are complete and error-free. Practice using a wider range of grammatical structures, such as conditional clauses or passive voice, where appropriate, and avoid cutting off thoughts.
