Certain people argue that university students should be free to choose their own subjects, mainly because this will help them to achieve their dream and enhances number of proffessionals in different feilds . However, others believe that, they should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the future, such as those related to science and technology, because it enhances government infrastructure and increase economic growth.
On the one hand, people who are supporting, that students should be able to choose their own subjects believe that it will help them to achieve their goal. Every children have different dreams and goals in their life. Education is a prime factor that allows them to become who they want to be. So every students should be able to choose subjects according to their goal and interest. In addition, it enhances the number of proffessionals in different feilds. When children have different dreams, we would get talented workers from different feilds such as actors, writers, artists and so on instead of engineers and doctors. This will help us to develop each sectors. For example, if the number of artists or actors are reducing considerably, there will be a time when we won't have any type of entertaintments.
On the other hand, people who argue students should only study science and technology, beileve that it would enhance economic growth. This is because employees who are working in jobs that are related to science and technology have stable income than others. These people pays a huge amount of money as tax, that will significantly enhance the countries growth. Also, these workers would improve infrastructure by building bridges, roads, providing better health care and so on. For instance, having good doctors is essential for better health care facilities. If a country has no good doctors there would be several consequences and even death rates would be high. This will affect the country and people.
In conclusion, both perspectives present compelling arguments. While studying according to students interest increase professionals and they would be able to achieve their goal, whereas when students focus only on science and technology , it enhances economic growth and improve infrastructure. I ultimately believe that a balanced approach is best.
