Many people believe that violent content on television and in films negatively affects young people’s behaviour and contributes to increasing violence in society. I strongly agree with this opinion because young audiences are highly impressionable, and constant exposure to aggressive scenes can influence the way they think and behave. However, there are several effective measures that can be taken to reduce this problem.
Firstly, children and teenagers often imitate what they watch on screens. Violent movies and television programs sometimes present aggression as an acceptable or even heroic way to solve problems. As a result, young viewers may become less sensitive to violence and more likely to behave aggressively in real life. In addition, repeated exposure to violent scenes can create fear, anxiety, and emotional instability among children. Although not every young person becomes violent because of media influence, the continuous normalization of aggression can certainly contribute to higher levels of violence in society.
To lessen this issue, both governments and parents should take responsibility. One important step is to introduce stricter regulations on violent content shown on television and online platforms. Age restrictions and clear warning labels should be applied more carefully to prevent children from accessing inappropriate material. Furthermore, schools can educate students about media literacy so that they learn to distinguish between entertainment and real-life behaviour.
Parents also play a significant role in controlling what their children watch. They should monitor screen time, encourage educational or positive programs, and spend more time discussing the harmful effects of violence with their children. In addition, promoting sports, arts, and community activities can help young people develop healthier ways to express emotions and solve conflicts peacefully.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that violence in the media has a negative impact on young people and can increase aggression in society. Nevertheless, through stricter media control, parental guidance, and better education, this problem can be reduced effectively.
